A Suffolk engineering company which pioneered the four-day working week has been snapped up by a global business.

Rendlesham-based CMG Technologies was acquired by Indo-MIM, which is based in the USA and India.

CMG is a metal 3D printing company which specialises in metal injection moulding (MIM) and believes that the move will enable it to build on its success and expand.

CMG managing director Rachel Garrett said it was "an extremely exciting time" for the company and industry overall.

East Anglian Daily Times:

“CMG Technologies is known for the quality of its services and the benefits it brings to various sectors.

"By combining the expertise and resources of CMG and Indo-MIM, we will be able to grow our company and services substantially.

“We are thrilled to be part of the Indo-MIM group and look forward to what the future holds.”

The company said it will continue to trade as CMG Technologies.

No changes will be made to management, staffing, or the culture the Suffolk manufacturer has created - including their four-day week, it added.

The team will continue to be managed by Rachel Garrett and Phil Marsh.

Technical and production director Dr Marsh said: “The company’s great success over the years is testament to the quality of our team.

“By joining the Indo-MIM group, we will be able to build on that further and provide even more fantastic opportunities for the team.”

CMG creates intricate parts using MIM technology, and quickly became a key player in metal 3D printing since launching the service in 2021.

It scooped an innovation award for its work to create vital parts for ventilators in the fight against Covid-19 and was also recognised with a wellbeing award for initiatives to support staff.

In 2022, Rachel Garrett was named in the Timewise Power List, which celebrates successful individuals working part-time hours.
