Events have been cancelled and some estates closed following the 'unseasonably high' winds forecast for the weekend. 

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for the weekend which has resulted in events being cancelled and estates closing some facilities.

The "unseasonably windy" period is expected to last from 9am on Saturday, July 15, to midnight on Sunday, July 17. 

Short-term power cuts are also possible and coastal communities will likely be affected by spray and large waves.

Stowmarket Carnival is sadly set to miss out on the scheduled Battle of Britain flypast, including a Hawker Hurricane, which was scheduled to fly over the Stowmarket Recreation Ground on Saturday afternoon. 

The Red Devils Parachute Regiment is still set to put on a show on Sunday afternoon but this will be weather dependent.

Two National Trust properties have also announced reduced openings. 

Sutton Hoo has posted on social media that the viewing tower will be closed.

Flatford Mill has cancelled boat hire over the weekend and will review the opening of other facilities over the weekend.
