A 'flower bar' will be open throughout the summer giving beer and flower lovers a chance to buy their favourite things in one place.

The Southwold Flower Company has teamed up with Adnams to host the weekly flower bar at the brewer's flagship store every Friday and Saturday throughout the summer.

Whilst beer and bouquets might seem an unusual combination, owner Roger Mobbs explained how the collaboration came about: "Adnams like the local aspect of our business, and knew us as we made their shop signs with our dried flowers.

"We are lacking a high street presence in Southwold, so this is a way for us to sell our flowers really locally."

Despite the rain last Friday, the pop-up was still a success.

"People loved the idea," said Mr Mobbs.

"Our dried flowers were particularly popular."

As far as possible the Southwold Flower Company use the flowers grown on their site in Reydon.

The company began life in Cratfield, near Halesworth, in 2013, and is the venture of couple Roger and Liz Mobbs.

Four years after opening the company had outgrown its one-acre site, and they moved to Reydon, where they now grow flowers at a site four times larger.

Now they also host creative workshops at their Reydon site.

"We have various workshops planned throughout the summer," said Mr Mobbs.

"People can also book in for hen or birthday parties, where you can pick your own flowers and then make a bouquet."

When the summer growing season is over, the company still runs workshops throughout the winter season, hosting wreath-making and garland classes in December.

The 'flower bar' pop-up at Adnams will run until the end of August.
