It has been 50 years since one of Suffolk's most famous nature reserves opened to the public.
The Landguard Nature Reserve in Felixstowe, designated as a Local Nature Reserve (LNR), will celebrate its 50th birthday with a special wildlife discovery day.
The free event will take place on Sunday, August 13, next to the Manor Terrace car park from 10am to 3pm and is suitable for children of all ages with a host of drop-in events and activities.
Young participants will have a chance to explore the amazing willow creatures trail, play giant games, and help the landguard ranger build a new giant bug house for the reserve’s pond area as well as go bird spotting with volunteers from the bird observatory.
Children are also encouraged to come in their best wildlife fancy dress, with prizes to be won.
Leonie Washington, Landguard Nature Reserve ranger, said: "We are all set to celebrate the 50th birthday of our beautiful reserve and its rich fauna and flora.
"Bring the whole family to our special Wildlife Discovery Day, which is designed to be both fun and educational. "This is a great way for children to learn more about this Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) at the southern tip of Suffolk’s stunning coastline".
