A hugely popular pick-your-own sunflower patch that sees hordes flock to Bury St Edmunds is back for its third year. 

The 3,000-acre Rougham Estate will open its doors visitors from Friday, July 28, complete with two hectares of sunflowers, wildflower patches, food and drink options and, of course, plenty of photo opportunities.

Where is the sunflower patch? 

The Rougham Estate is located east of Bury St Edmunds and the sunflower field is signposted from junction 45 of the A14.

The address is The Mell Field, Sow Ln, Bury St Edmunds, Bury Saint Edmunds IP30 9XH and the what3words code is Madder.quote.snapper. 

How much does it cost to get in? 

Entry and parking at the site is free, and the estate will lend secateurs to visitors for a small refundable deposit. 

The flowers start at £2 per stem and bunches of wildflowers are also for sale for various prices.

When is it open? 

The flower patch is open every day from 9am to 5pm starting Friday, July 28 and is expected to remain open until the end of August.

What is there to do at Rougham Estate sunflower patch? 

Activities for children include climbing the big bale pyramind, a bug hunt challenge and playing in sandpits.

Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic or enjoy the food and refreshments served from Folk About (Folk Cafe), as well as an ice cream van. 

There are also several featured photograph areas where families can stop for a snap. All professional photoshoots need to be pre-booked by Rougham Estate and drone use is prohibited without permission in writing. 

There is plenty of parking as well as accessible toilets and baby changing areas at the site.
