Snape Maltings is known as one of the best and most beautiful music venues in the UK. However, the Maltings put on more events than concerts.
This year, KT Tunstall will be performing at the Snape Maltings Concert Hall to a sold-out audience.
With the summer season set to start on Monday 24 July, here is a round-up of some of the top events you can attend.
1. Jess Gillam Ensemble
Saxophonist Jess Gillam is kicking off the summer season on Monday 24 July at 7.30pm.
Well-known for hosting This Classical Life on BBC Radio 3, tickets to see Jess Gillam and her ensemble are growing increasingly limited.
Her album RISE reached no.1 in the UK classical chart.
2. Sundowners at The Tipi
Sundowners are free family-friendly get-togethers on the lawn outside the Tipi.
Olive the Ambulance is an upcycled vintage photo booth that has been turned into a DJ booth.
Stone-baked pizza is available to purchase on select dates but families are also welcome to bring their own picnics.
These are held during the afternoons before the concerts.
3. Farmers' Market
Whilst the farmers' market is a regular monthly fixture at Snape Maltings, it's always best visited on a sunny summer's day.
The local products for sale include cheese from Fen Farm Dairy & St Jude, mushrooms from Fabulous Fungi and Vodka from Bare Vodka.
The full list of suppliers, dates and times for the Snape Maltings Farmers' Market can be found on their website: brittenpearsarts.org
4. The Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra
The Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra performed at the 2022 BBC Proms and has since been touring in Europe.
Comprised of 75 military-aged refugee musicians, the orchestra will close the musical proceedings at Snape Maltings this year. Their set list includes music from Beethoven and Verdi, as well as two pieces from Ukrainian composers including Skoryk's Melody, which is frequently described as the spiritual hymn of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra will perform on Saturday 2 September at 7.30pm.
5. Garden Yoga
Yoga teacher Rich Woodall has taught yoga all over the world.
This year he will be running yoga classes in the garden of The Red House every Sunday throughout July and August.
The 90-minute class is suitable for all levels and experiences and costs £15 per session.
More information is available on the Snape Maltings website.
6. Sheku Kanneh-Mason and the Aurora Orchestra
Sheku Kanneh-Mason is becoming a household name following the BBC documentary recorded about his musically-gifted family during the 2020 lockdown, This House is Full of Music.
He is performing alongside the Aurora Orchestra who are currently the resident orchestra at the Southbank Centre and resident ensemble at Kings Place.
Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring will be performed from memory on Wednesday 16 August.
7. Oysters, mussels and English wine with live music
The Tipi on the bank of the reedbed makes for a perfect setting to watch the sunset and enjoy an evening of great food.
The English wines are served on arrival, with the choice of a Bacchus or a Pinot Noir Rose, both grown on the southern coastline of the UK.
Freshly shucked oysters from Maldon, Essex, wait on your table. Mussels cooked in a garlic cream sauce and fries follow.
Local musicians accompany the meal.
The ticket price is £40 and available from the Snape Maltings website.
