The design has been revealed of one of the county's most popular family attractions.

Southwold Maize Maze is due to open on July 22 and is set to be one of the 'best years ever,' according to owner Bella Hall.

After last summer's drought, the maze was able to open but the crop never grew particularly tall, standing at about 6 feet.

"It is currently at around 6 feet tall now," said Ms Hall, "but could grow up to 8 feet if the weather remains warm and it continues to rain."

When the crop is good the maze can last until the end of October.

"Some years we can run a child-friendly daytime Halloween event."

The first images of the maze were released on Monday, July 10. The theme this year is 'birds of prey' and was designed by Mazescape, alongside Ms Hall.

From the air, it is clear the maze shows an Osprey, a local bird that is regularly seen in the surrounding fields and reed beds.

The maze is not the only attraction available on the site near Southwold. There is a large play area which is added to every year. This year sees the launch of a new water-play activity called 'the downpour derby.'

There are also three huge jumping pillows on site, a fast double zipline and climbing towers.

Pedal Go Karts are available free of charge on the day with maze entry. The on-site cafe is open for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea, and Suffolk Meadow ice cream is available from their converted horsebox.

Located just off the A1095 into Southwold, the maze has continued to grow in popularity, winning the Norfolk and Suffolk Tourism Awards in 2019 for 'best small visitor attraction.'

Tickets are bookable online and cost £8 for adults and £9 for children.
