Developers have snapped up an eight-acre industrial and logistics site off the A14 on the outskirts of Ipswich which is expected to generate about 350 jobs.
Trebor Developments and Hillwood acquired the commercial development land at Eastern Gateway from Ipswich Borough Council for an undisclosed sum - and plan to build five units.
Trebor has already secured detailed planning approval for the industrial and warehousing units, ranging in size from 12,905 to 52,250 sq ft and said it plans to build them on a speculative basis.
The Worcestershire-based company has already selected Magrock Ltd as its main contractor, with building work due to start in July of this year.
The scheme is expected to be completed in spring of 2024.
The scheme - marketed as Access @ Eastern Gateway, Ipswich -- will join Amazon and La Doria on the site.
Trebor development boss Greg Dalton said: "Ipswich is a key industrial and logistics hub in the east of England and we’re delighted to have worked closely with Ipswich Borough Council to secure this latest site acquisition.
"We look forward to investing in much needed new industrial product for this area, delivering all five units on speculative basis.
"It’s another example of how our considered and strategic approach to planning and construction can release prime development land.”.
Ipswich Borough Council Leader Neil MacDonald described the deal as "another great outcome for Ipswich".
“Eastern Gateway is a prime area of developable land and, by taking on this site, Ipswich Borough Council has unlocked the potential of this land," he said.
"We have been successful in our aims to stimulate investment, encourage job creation, and bolster the local economy."
Lambert Smith Hampton and Savills acted for Ipswich Borough Council in the deal and have been retained as marketing agents for Trebor.
