An illegal immigrant who became involved in county lines drug dealing to pay off his debt to people smugglers has been jailed for two years.
Police stopped a car driven by Ervin Reka in Ingrams Well Road in Sudbury on May 21 this year and during a search of the vehicle they discovered 16 wraps of cocaine, Ipswich Crown Court heard.
Sentencing 29-year-old Reka, Judge Emma Peters said he’d been delivering drugs using the postcode delivery method.
“While it would be satisfying to see those above you in the chain before the courts those who get in cars and deliver drugs must be deterred from that behaviour,” said the judge.
Reka, of Longmeadow Way, Canterbury, admitted possessing cocaine with intent to supply.
The court heard that he had come to the UK illegally on a small boat and had become involved in the supply of drugs to pay off a debt to those who had brought him into the country.
He had come to the UK hoping to find work so that he could send money to his wife and two children in Albania.
