Fire crews from around Suffolk and Cambridgeshire battled a large building fire last night.

Firefighters were called at midnight on Saturday, June 17, to the WRC Haverhill Waste Transfer Station in Holmefield Road, Haverhill.

14 crews were called in total.

Three fire crews from Cambridge, one from Burwell, one from Wethersfield, one from Halstead, one from Saffron Walden, two from Woodbridge, one from Long Melford, one from Clare, one from Haverhill, one from Wickhambrook, and one from Ixworth were in attendance.

The fire was extinguished and all appliances had left the scene by 3.30am.
