A man has been arrested after a woman was stabbed in west Suffolk car park.
Emergency services were called to reports that a woman had been stabbed in St Olaves Road in Bury St Edmunds at about 10.25pm on Wednesday.
The woman, aged in her 50s, has been taken to West Suffolk Hospital for treatment, where her condition is currently described as stable.
A 58-year-old man from Bury St Edmunds has subsequently been arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm.
He has been taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where he remains.
The car park at St Olaves shopping precinct has been cordoned off as police investigate the incident.
Detectives are appealing for any witnesses to contact West CID, quoting crime reference number 37/34303/23.
