A jury has been empanelled in the trial of a 30-year-old Suffolk man accused of causing the death of a cyclist by dangerous driving in Bury St Edmunds.
Before Ipswich Crown Court on Monday was Alexander Martin, of Tulyar Walk, Newmarket.
He has denied causing the death of 65-year-old Stephen Lawrence, from Risby, by dangerous driving on April 12, 2021 and an alternative less serious charge of causing Mr Lawrence's death by careless driving.
Police were called at 6pm on April 12, 2021 to a crash involving a bicycle and a blue Nissan Qashqai in Newmarket Road, Bury St Edmunds.
Paramedics and the air ambulance were also called to the incident, but Mr Lawrence died at the scene.
After being empanelled the jury was sent away until Tuesday.
The trial is expected to finish at tge end of this week or early next week.
