Arguably, the lure of delicious, locally produced fare to be found each year at the Suffolk Show is as big a draw as the cows, pigs and horses.
This year, the 192nd show to delight the county, was no different.
Some familiar faces returned to the show as we take a trip around Trinity Park to see what is there for the hungry show goer.
How could any trip to the show be complete without a skewer of fresh strawberries dipped in chocolate, or a visit to The Cheese and Pie Man, Simon Morrison?
The team at Dingley Dell Pork Farm were on hand, with their ‘pork shack’ ready to feed the masses with succulent pulled pork sandwiches and ‘smash’ burgers topped with bacon, cheese and sweet pickled onion.
A stack of piping hot halloumi fries with fresh tzasiki could be found at Hide and Greek, the perfect pick-me-up for flagging energy levels mid-morning.
Sweet treats abounded in the food and drink tent. Mountains of licorice pipes, Allsorts, Poor Bens and aniseed balls were spilling over the counter at Pontrefact Licorice.
Piles of brightly-coloured Turkish delight were offered by Med Fine Foods, as well as olives, stuffed potatoes, pickled shallots and all manner of Greek cuisine.
Plenty of treats for grown-ups were on offer too.
Excited shoppers commented that it was wonderful that “a real character of the Suffolk Show” had returned in the form of Tony Wellings from the Antipodean Sommelier Limited.
The Peterborough-based company specialises in Australian and New Zealand wines, and Mr Wellings kept his happy crowd topped up with samples.
Meanwhile, the English Distillery crossed the border from Norwich, while the Stardust Spirits came all the way from Diss, with their range of spirits and liqueurs, including vodkas flavoured with toffee and butterscotch, amaretto and raspberry and white chocolate.
