A brave five-year-old lifesaver kept his cool to save his mum's life after she had an epileptic seizure earlier this week.

Dana Conway, 24, collapsed at her Stowmarket home on Monday shortly after providing her son Logan with breakfast as he prepared to head off to school.

But the youngster knew exactly what to do and calmly phoned 999 to ask for an ambulance, before following the instructions of the call operator to move his mother into a comfortable position and ensure there were no objects in her way.

Dana said: "He has just blown everyone away. Me and my family are so proud of him."

The last she remembered of Monday's incident was serving Cedars Park Primary School pupil Logan some crumpets and then going to sit on the sofa.

When she regained consciousness, she was laying on the floor and paramedics had arrived to provide help to Logan.

"He made sure I lay on my back and that my neck was tilted backwards. He just stopped any harm. Everything that they asked him to do, he had done. He moved everything out of the way so I could not hit anything," she said.

Dana, who works at Nxt Gen Driving Academy in Stowmarket, said the paramedics had been told there was an eight-year-old boy in the house and were 'surprised' when a five-year-old opened the front door.

She had suffered two previous seizures, with the first in March and she has been given medication to prevent repeats.

Having experienced these previous fits, Logan knew what to do if it happened again.

Dana was confident her son would be able to do it again, adding that it was important for children to know how to dial 999 in an emergency.
