New plans for eight homes backed by the parish council are replacing previous proposals for a 58-house development on the same site.
Land west of Barrells Road in Thurston, near Bury St Edmunds, could become the site of eight new homes, replacing two dwellings already in existence there.
Plans were submitted to Mid Suffolk District Council for a 58-house development on the same site, but were withdrawn in June 2020.
This new application is backed by Thurston Parish Council as part of a land agreement announced in January.
In return for ownership of two pieces of land in the heart of the village, the council is supporting both these proposals and plans for five houses on Church View at Manor Farm.

A spokesman for the parish council said: "This ownership agreement will allow the parish council to secure future economic, social and environmental benefits that will not only support the needs of a growing village but will also protect valuable areas of importance to the community's wellbeing and interests."
