Part of the A12 was closed due to a burst water main.
The southbound carriageway is currently closed near Colchester due to overrunning works to fix the issue.

A spokesman for National Highways said engineers were working to get the closure removed as quickly as possible.
There was a mile of congestion on approach to the closure and drivers are being asked to give extra time when travelling in the area.
The carriageway has since reopened.
