Hundreds of runners from across the county took to the streets of Woodbridge in what was a "brilliant day" in the annual 10k race.

Runners representing all sorts of clubs around Suffolk took part in the event on Sunday.

Hundreds of spectators came out to show their support for the runners who ran around the streets of the east Suffolk town.

Woodbridge Shufflers joint club secretary, Mark Allen, said after the race: "It's been a brilliant day.

"It's been months in the planning, but as a club we're delighted that it has gone so smoothly.

"Thank you to all the participants, marshalls, sponsors and to the wonderful club of volunteers for bringing the Woodbridge 10k magic once again."

One of the race participants, Tom Stewart, said: "It's such a great event.

"Of all the races I do, this is just the best.

"It's so well supported and a brilliant event for the town."

One of the volunteers, Natasha Sones, said: "It's an amazing day for the town and it's lovely to see the whole community come together."

The adult men's race was won by Cooper Berry from Best Athletics, with Brandon Barber from Framlingham Flyers and Stuart Haynes from Woodbridge Shufflers following closely behind.

Stanley Peacher from Framlingham won the age category for 15-19 year olds.

In the adult women's race, Kat Parnell came out on top, with Anna Firth and Ruby Vinton coming in second and third respectively.

Lauren Squirrell from Ipswich Harriers came first in the 15-19 age category.

Six charities were supported with the event, including East Anglia's Children's Hospices, Home-Start in Suffolk, St Elizabeth Hospice, Martlesham Wilds - Suffolk Wildlife Trust, Woodbridge Riding for the Disabled and Cleft Lip and Palate Association.

The race also paid tribute to Felixstowe Road Runner (FRR) and Ipswich Parkrun director, Ben Jacobs, with the FRR team setting off together in memory of the 47-year-old after he died in a crash last week.
