A darts tournament held in memory of a Suffolk dad who died suddenly aged 35 is set to help a woman go on holiday for the first time after her treatment.
Family and friends of a Wayne Barker hit the bullseye with the event to raise £6,500 for Bethany Williams, who has been undergoing treatment for a brain tumour.
The man from Bruisyard, near Saxmundham, was father to Jake and Libby, a twin brother to Dean, the son of Roy and Carol Barker, and a good friend to many others.
One of his friends, Carl 'Wilko' Wilkins, has been organising a dart competition in memory of Mr Barker, who loved the sport.
Wilko, the organiser of the Wayne Barker memorial, said: "The whole day was amazing and made even more special with the appearance of Bethany, her mum Jenna, dad Kevin and sister.
"So many people put a lot of time and money into the event, and I’d like to send some special thanks."
Bethany said she is going to use some of the funds to go on her first holiday abroad when she is well enough and leave the rest for her university fund.
Wilko added: "The competition's venue, Kesgrave Social Club, was absolutely spot on, and the staff there was fantastic.
"It’s always tough on days like this as a memorial is to do with someone who’s sadly not with us anymore, but when your surname is Barker, you’ll never be forgotten."
Wilko added a big ‘thank you’ for Ian Randles, Tracey Hammond, Dean and Roy Barker, Johnny Attwater, his wife Rachel, Pauline and Louise Collins, Val Warman, Tommy Collman, Mark Cooper as well as all the players, sponsors and supporters of the event.
