The Green Party achieved a historic win yesterday in Mid Suffolk - securing their first outright local authority in the country with 24 seats.
The result saw the Local Conservatives lose 10 ten seats in the district, with high profile candidates such as council leader Suzie Morley and Tim Passmore convincingly beaten.
Leader of the Mid Suffolk District Council Green Party Andy Mellen said the result had been “a long time coming”.
“It’s really amazing to have finally got here,” he added.
“The challenge now is to make a difference. Being in power is very different to being the opposition.”
