A woman from Bungay is "delighted" to be recognised for her work in the community with her own personal invite to the King's coronation.

Sue Collins, volunteer and chair of trustees at Bungay Community Support, was awarded a British Empire Medal in 2021 for her tireless work helping her town and community throughout the pandemic.

Now Mrs Collins feels "incredibly privileged" to receive an invite to the King's coronation this weekend.

She said: "It was quite a moment when I discovered amongst my everyday emails this amazing invitation to attend the coronation.

"I am truly delighted and feel incredibly privileged to be a guest at such a historic
event.

"When the invite came through I was absolutely stunned and surprised and for a while, did not think it was real."

Mrs Collins originally created Bungay Emergency Services in March 2020 providing shopping collection and medicine drop-off services to vulnerable people in the area.

Since then, the temporary emergency service made up purely of volunteers has transformed into a registered charity Bungay Community Support (BCS).

Now the charity, which offers a range of support services, is in the process of transforming a former butcher's shop in the town into a community hub and food hall.

Mrs Collins said: "It is an amazing and incredible privilege to be recognised for the things we are doing for the community, in the community.

"The fact this work is being recognised by the royal community is remarkable, we are putting Bungay on the map.

"I am looking forward to the occasion, it is wonderfully special to be invited to be part of a hugely historical event which I can tell my grandkids of one day."
