A community leader has expressed their sadness following a double fatal crash.
Emergency services, including the air ambulance, were called to the B1064 Sudbury Road on Friday, following reports of a crash involving a car and a cement mixer lorry.
The driver and the front seat passanger of the car had to be rescued from the vehicle by Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service.
A police spokesman said a man and a woman both aged in their 80s were taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital but died two days later, despite the best efforts of medical personnel.
Mayor of Sudbury Ellen Murphy said the crash was "tragic" and has left a lot of people in shock.
"It really is tragic," Ms Murphy said.
"This is very, very sad news and my sincere condolonces to the friends and family.
"I am so sorry to hear about this."
Ms Murphy said she crashes of this nature do not normally happen on the stretch of road.
