A popular Bury St Edmunds cafe is extending its opening hours to seven days a week, just two months since it was taken over by a new owner.

Alex Rotherham, 52, first took over the Bay Tree Cafe in February and promised a menu consisting entirely of fresh food.

Having lived in Bury St Edmunds since 2011, Mr Rotherham brought a wealth of experience to the role, including stints at No.4 Restaurant at the Abbeygate Cinema.

Since re-opening, the St John's Street cafe has gone from strength to strength and will now be open seven days a week.

"It's so lovely to hear when people come to the Bay Tree and say 'we found you!," said Mr Rotherham.

"Our fresh, homemade scones, popular Nanaimo bars and poutine are all available with our friendly staff looking forward to seeing everyone."

From Thursday, May 4, the cafe will also be hosting the weekly Arc special educational needs support group from 10-12.
