An Ipswich Town fan is set to shave his hair off in front of thousands before Town's big game on Saturday, in aid of a club legend.
Mike Turbert, known by Town fans as Turbo, has said he will miss his hair when he gets it shaved off in the Fan Zone at Portman Road before the League One clash with Exeter City.
Mr Turbert, 51, moved back to the area in 2018 and decided to go along to football games again, journalling his journeys and taking pictures at grounds around the country.
As a result, he has made friends, who he says are the reason he still goes to football.
He said: "They make me feel like I am part of the family.
"As a result, I’ve been to weddings, birthdays and funerals.
"We have seen some disappointments on the field in the last few decades but the friendships I’ve made make me travel the country following this club."
Mr Turbert said, at the start of the season that he would cut his hair off if Town got promoted.
He hasn't properly cut his hair since the pandemic in 2020.
With Saturday being a day Ipswich could potentially get promoted back to the Championship, he is chopping his hair off.
He said: "I'll miss it.
"I am really nervous about it, it's a comfort blanket for me."
Town fans have supported Mr Turbert so far, raising over £2,000 for Darby Rimmer MND Foundation, in honour of Town legend Marcus Stewart.
He said: "I didn't expect this reaction.
"I am blown away and the love and support I have got from this is just amazing."
Mr Turbert's hair will be cut off at 1.30pm in the Fan Zone at Portman Road, and a link to his donation page can be found here.
