Lidl is hoping to open up as many as 16 stores across Suffolk.
The supermarket chain has released a list of 'site requirements' which indicates desirable areas to build a store, including towns such as Bury St Edmunds, Sudbury and Newmarket.
Lidl already has eight stores in Suffolk across Ipswich, Felixstowe, Stowmarket, Lowestoft, Haverhill and Beccles.
Thirteen of the new sites would be new, with a further three existing sites marked for relocation.
The full list of areas in Suffolk shortlisted by Lidl includes:

- Hadleigh
- Halesworth
- Ipswich - Handford Road (relocation)
- Ipswich - Northwest
- Ipswich - West
- Woodbridge/Martlesham
- Lowestoft - North
- Lowestoft - South
- Mildenhall
- Newmarket
- Saxmundham
- Stowmarket (relocation)
- Sudbury
Lidl GB chief executive Ryan McDonnell said: "The last few years have been challenging for everyone, but we’ve made it clear that we’re more committed than ever to ensuring that every single household has access to a Lidl store.
"That’s why our focus is firmly on the future as we continue to grow and invest in our infrastructure, while keeping a lookout for more sites and locations across the country.
"As we progress further into 2023, we know that more shoppers will make the switch, and whichever of our stores they choose, they know they’re getting the best value.”
