A military air base in Suffolk went into lockdown after reports of a suspected active shooter on site.
RAF Mildenhall in west Suffolk went into lockdown at 1.18pm on Tuesday after initial reports suggested it was potential exercise activity.
A base readiness exercise was being conducted at the time of the incident.
In a statement on social media, a spokesman for RAF Mildenhall said: "Immediately emergency personnel arrived on scene to clear the area.
"Authorities determined there was no active shooter."
Nobody was injured during the incident.
“Today we are thankful for the quick reaction of our Airmen who are highly trained and ready to respond to any situation,” said Col. Gene Jacobus, 100th Air Refueling Wing Commander.
“In this case we are thankful it was determined there was no active shooter. The safety of our personnel and families is always a priority, and the base is committed to maintain a safe and secure environment.”
