A woman suffered serious injuries after she was hit by a van on the A14 on the Suffolk-Cambridgeshire border.
Emergency services were called to the westbound carriageway, near to junction 37 for Newmarket, at about 5pm on Thursday after a white Ford Transit van hit a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, a woman in her 40s, was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge with serious injuries.
She remains in hospital and in a stable condition.
The van driver remained at the scene and is assisting with enquiries.
Both the A14 and adjoining A11 were closed for a number of hours while emergency services dealt with the incident.
