A Felixstowe florist who discovered her passion for flowers by creating bouquets for her mother's funeral is going from strength to strength by expanding into a new shop.

Lisa Tumilty, 35, owns Pretty Little Flowers and has recently moved just two doors away in search of a bigger space for her business.

"We opened on Saturday and the response we've received has just been amazing," she said.

"There was even a queue out the door, which I wasn't expecting at all."

Mrs Tumilty's journey with floristry started 11 years ago, after her mother passed away.

"I first made some small bits to go on her grave," she said.

"So although I lost my mum, it had a positive side because it made me realise my passion."

After formally training at Otley College (now Suffolk Rural) four years ago, Mrs Tumilty opened Pretty Little Flowers on Hamilton Road.

Now, she's relocated to a shop just two doors down from her previous premises, in order to expand her business.

"My favourite events are still funerals because they're just so special to people," said Mrs Tumilty.

"It's a celebration of life and I still remember how special it was to do my mum's funeral all those years ago."

She added that she loves Felixstowe as a location to live and work in and feels particularly grateful for the "community feel".

"You just get lovely, friendly people here," she said.

"It's grown so much in the past few years and I'm delighted to be able to welcome everyone to the new shop."

Another company has already moved into her old premises on Hamilton Road, meaning three businesses have opened in that road in the space of just a few weeks.
