West Suffolk Council has now released lists detailing the candidates who will be vying for election on Thursday, May 4.
Current West Suffolk Council leader John Griffiths announced his decision to step down after twenty years in the role this morning.
Four wards have seen councillors elected unopposed - Conservative councillor Andrew John Smith in Bardwell, Conservative councillor Mike Chester in Chedburgh & Chevington, Independent councillor Andy Neal in Mildenhall Queensway and Independent councillor Jim Thorndyke in Stanton.
Voting takes place on May 4 across the district - and for the first time people who go to polling stations will have to show photographic identification before being given ballot papers.
