A popular Suffolk seafront beach kiosk, that has been trading for nearly 100 years, now has new owners.

Business partners Jackie Hole and Jonny Levett have taken over the running of The Dip in Cliff Road, Felixstowe, which is a well-known stop for walkers along the sea wall keen for some ice cream or coffee and cake.

Previous owners Dan and Sarah Cozens have handed over the reins after nearly ten years of serving hungry and thirsty visitors and are believed to be planning to spend more time in Sicily where they have an olive grove.

Jackie said the kiosk would still be selling the traditional artisan coffees and ice creams, as well as ice cream sundaes in the summer, but she was also planning to continue running the business during the winter months following a successful trial of year-round opening.

The musician, who plays in the Suffolk band The Superthings, would also like to hold mini music events at the site, but said this would need permission from land owner East Suffolk Council.

She knew Dan through his involvement with the band Get Carter and the two groups used to share musicians.

Both Jackie and former builder Jonny had planned to operate a mobile food truck, but decided instead to take over The Dip after speaking to Dan and Sarah about their intention to leave the business.

Jackie, who grew up in Felixstowe, has experience in the hospitality trade, having worked at Nuts and Honey restaurant in Bent Hill, Felixstowe, which is now Ruby's Kitchen.

She has also worked in digital marketing.

She hoped more visitors would be attracted to the town, with more developments set to take place in the area around The Dip, including plans to build a new state-of-the-art clubhouse and cafe at Felixstowe Ferry Golf Club.

In addition, Felixstowe was recently named among the best places to live in the east by The Sunday Times.

"I went off and did other things around Europe, but all my school friends have come back or are still here, so I now tend to migrate back to Felixstowe and it is just a nice place to be.

"I don't think you appreciate it as much as a kid, but as an adult you realise it is a nice place to be," Jackie said.
