An 18-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man suffered a stab wound to the stomach.
Police were called to reports of a disturbance in Magdalen Street, Colchester, shortly after 11pm on Friday.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man with a stab wound to his stomach.
He was taken to hospital where he was in a serious condition.
An 18-year-old man from Panfield has since been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, possession of an offensive weapon and criminal damage.
He is currently in custody.
Essex Police believe it was a targeted attack but are putting on additional high visibility patrols for reassurance.
