A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a fatal crash on the A14.
Police were called just after 6pm yesterday to reports of a three-vehicle crash on the eastbound carriageway at Beyton, on the outskirts of Bury St Edmunds.
According to Suffolk police, the incident involved two lorries and a van near the roadworks.
The East of England ambulance service, air ambulance and Suffolk Fire and Rescue crews were also in attendance, but the driver of the van, a 53-year-old man, was declared dead at the scene.
One lorry driver was taken to West Suffolk Hospital as a precaution.
The other driver did not suffer injuries.
A man in his 50s has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
He was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where he remains.
The road reopened just before 1pm on Friday.
Officers would like to hear from any witnesses to the collision and any motorists driving in the area at the time of the incident with a dashcam fitted in their vehicle.
