Plans have been made for a new petrol station near the A14 on the outskirts of Stowmarket.

A planning application has been made for a new petrol station off Needham Road at Combs Ford, next to the roundabout that joins Gipping Way.

The land is currently vacant, and the plans are for a 4,000-square foot development.

There are plans for a petrol station, two jet wash stations, electric vehicle charging facilities, as well as 28 car park spaces.

The development originally proposed a drive-thru restaurant in the pre-application submission, but the council responded that this would not be supported due to the Stowmarket area action plan, which aims to prevent hot food takeaways within 500 metres of a school.

Instead, the petrol station will internally offer hot food and coffee, the "exact details of which are not yet known at this stage", according to planning application documents.

The plans were submitted to Mid Suffolk District Council on February 20, on the behalf of FPC Income and Growth PLC, and a decision is expected by April 18.
