A Suffolk nature reserve has been named among locations across the world as one of the best places to watch wildlife.
RSPB Minsmere sits between Dunwich and Sizewell by the Suffolk coast and is famous for being home to some of the UK's rarest wildlife.
In particular, Minsmere is popular among bird enthusiasts and species such as avocets, bearded tits, marsh harriers, nightingales and bitterns can all be found at the site.
In a list published by Discover Wildlife, the reserve was named among 15 of the best wildlife-watching destinations.
Specifically, it was named as one of the five best places to visit over the course of a weekend, along with Purbeck Heath in Dorset, Penzance in Cornwall, Spurn Point in East Yorkshire and Oslo in Norway.
The list read: "In Suffolk, Minsmere, the RSPB’s flagship reserve and environs excel year-round.
"Gawp at ‘dancing’ adders in spring, revere breeding avocets in summer, admire rutting red deer in autumn, or peer into wintry reedbeds to decipher bittern and bearded tit.
"For something different, throw in a night in Bawdsey Hall’s photography hides for close-range views of badger, tawny owl and – most excitingly – polecat, before joining a local expert to see what unusual moths have been attracted to nearby traps."
As well as the weekend recommendations, the list also encouraged nature enthusiasts to take longer trips to the likes of India, Brazil, Romania, Spain and Botswana.
Also in the region, Discover Wildlife recognised parts of Norfolk including Holkham, Blakeney Point and Winterton as being among the many wildlife hotspots in East Anglia.
