A 71-year-old man from Suffolk has appeared in court charged with pirating more than 40,000 DVDs.
John Williams, of Pot Kiln Road, in Great Cornard, appeared in Suffolk Magistrates Court on Monday, March 13.
He made no plea to the charges.
Prosecutor Laura Austin described it as a "somewhat unusual" act of offending, adding that the charges are "dying" crimes.
According to Ms Austin, a complaint was made to trading standards.
A search of the address found 41,677 DVDRs, according to the prosecution.
He faced four charges of making for sale or hire an article infringing copyright, between November 2020 and October 2021.
Programmes included episodes of TV series The Strange World of Gurney Slade, Dial 999, Band of Gold, Boon, and At Home with the Braithwaites, and films London Has Fallen and Olympus Has Fallen.
There are also seven charges of distributing goods bearing a false trade mark.
Trade marks included Groupe Canal+, Warner Bros Entertainment, Netflix, 20th Century Fox, Columbia Pictures, Universal City Studios.
The offences each carry a penalty of a six-month sentence and/or unlimited fine.
Williams elected for trial at Ipswich Crown Court, where he will next appear on April 10.
He was granted unconditional bail before the next court appearance.
