10-year-old from Grundisburgh, Suffolk to do 46-mile challenge

Austin Hewitt and his dad Glyn, from Grundisburgh, are set to undertake the Peddars Way walk from Knettishall Heath to Holme-next-the-sea.

The walk will see them travel for three days in a row, walking around 26km a day.

Austin said: "I am really excited for the challenge.

"I love hiking."

The two of them have done practice walks, completing 56km over two days, but the duo have not done long walks three days running before.

Austin continued: "My legs ache after I finish a walk, but once I have a good night's sleep and bath, I feel fine again.

"The toughest thing about this challenge will probably be the days as we haven't done that distance yet.

"Before we have done lots of hiking, we have taken a day's break in between them."

Austin's mum has however said that they can celebrate with fish and chips on the beach once they have completed the walk.

They are doing this to raise money for guide dogs, after Austin's grandad recently lost his eyesight.

They have already raised £955 of a £1,000 target on their JustGiving page.

Glyn, Austin's dad, said: "We have had some really good news that Monster Energy, the company I work for, has agreed that for any employees that donate towards the walk, they are going to match.

"Austin's school, Grundisburgh Primary School have also been amazing.

"They let him do a presentation to his whole school about what he was doing, and they have sent out an email to all parents letting them know about it, so we have had some amazing help from people."
