A Grade II listed period home painted in ‘Suffolk pink’ will go under the hammer at auction later this month.
Foundation House in Gislingham near Eye is listed for sale with Auction House East Anglia for £300,000 - although it could fetch much more at auction.
It’s believed to date back to the mid-17th century and was built as a school room and master’s house before being converted into residential use.
It was altered and extended in the early 19th century and awarded Grade II listed status by Historic England in 1987.
A spokesperson for Auction House East Anglia, selling the property on March 22, says it presents a “fantastic refurbishment opportunity to investors, developers and owner-occupiers alike.”
It boasts a number of period features - including its traditional pink colourwash, thatched roof and exposed timbers - as well as family-sized living spaces, although it does require some improvement to bring it up to date.
Accommodation includes a living room, dining room, kitchen and shower room on the ground floor with four bedrooms and a bathroom on the floor above.
There are three good-sized store rooms on the second floor, which may be converted to residential use, subject to planning.
Outside, Foundation House also has off-street parking, a garage and large garden, and there is also the added benefit of a home office.
The auction will take place at 11am on Wednesday, March 22.
