A Suffolk teenager who left an 18-year-old with permanent scarring after biting off part of her lip has been locked up for four years.
Nineteen-year-old Hailie Macro attacked the teenager in the car park at the Premier Inn in Bury St Edmunds after she intervened in an argument between Macro and another woman, Ipswich Crown Court heard.
Macro, who has a young child, had punched the victim on the back of the head and she had turned round and struck Macro in self defence, said Lynne Shirley, prosecuting.
A scuffle followed with both women pulling each other’s hair before the victim felt a pain in her lip and a tearing sensation.
She was left covered in blood and was taken to West Suffolk Hospital before being transferred to Addenbrooke’s hospital.
The court heard that earlier in the evening Macro had kicked, punched and slapped the victim’s partner but he hadn’t suffered any injury.
In a statement read to the court the victim described the attack which took place on December 27 2021 as “disgusting and vicious” and said it had changed her life.
She said she had been left traumatised by what had happened to her and had been left feeling disgusted with the way her face looked.
She said her lip had lost tissue on one side and was uneven and “wonky”.
She said she had been left even more upset after hearing that Macro had shown pictures of her injuries to people in a pub.
Macro, of Kings Close, Mildenhall, admitted wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and an offence of assault by beating on the victim’s boyfriend.
She was given a four year sentence of youth detention and was banned from contacting the victim for five years.
Joanne Eley for Macro said her client didn’t accept showing pictures of the victim’s injuries to people in a pub.
She said Macro wished to apologise and to express regret and remorse to the victim for what she had done.
Miss Eley said Macro had no previous convictions and been suffering from a mental health disorder at the time of the offences.
