An Ipswich-based shipping company has started the year by opening an office in the Netherlands.

Just four months after launching sites in Manchester and Glasgow, Cory Brothers has officially opened another new office - this time by the major European port of Rotterdam.

Cory Brothers - which is a VertomCory brand - has set up the logistics office in Rhoon to provide freight forwarding services across all modes of transport and international trade lanes.

The Rotterdam team has worked together more more than 10 years and has "vast" experience in dealing with high-level imports and exports, customs clearance, door-to-door deliveries, cross trades, road transport, project management and chartering, said Cory Bros.

It specialises in serving a host of global sectors such as energy, offshore oil and gas, dredging, heavy transportation and lifting equipment, construction, food processing and mobilisation and demobilisation projects.

Rotterdam general manager Melvin Breukel said he was "delighted" to take the helm at the new office and was looking forward to working with Cory Brothers' UK and international offices.

"The Netherlands is the ideal location to further develop the Cory business in Europe and beyond," he said.

"It’s an exciting time for me, my team, and new colleagues. We provide additional knowledge, expertise and reach to a world respected brand that we are now part of.

"Our experience in new routes, new sectors and customer service provide a broader connection to existing customers whilst opening new potential for North West Europe, Africa & Middle East among other key trade lanes."

VertomCory chief executive Peter Wilson welcomed the new addition to the business.

East Anglian Daily Times:

"This is another excellent addition to the VertomCory group and further showcases our ambitious development plans.

"I’d like to thank Melvin, James Crosby (logistics director), Adam Rake (general manager) and both teams for putting this deal together.

"Melvin and I share the same values and aspirations and we aim to keep on learning, building, and getting better. I’d like to personally welcome our new colleagues to the Cory crew."
