Plans to turn the basement area of the former Bury St Edmunds Debenhams building into a cinema have moved forward after a licence application was submitted.
Everyman Cinema had its application to convert the basement area into three screens including a smaller private hire screen approved by West Suffolk Council in August.
The cinema would also include a bar/restaurant and would be open from and the submitted licence application it will be open between 8am and 3am Monday to Sunday.
The Debenhams store in the Arc shopping centre closed its doors last May.
The two floors above the cinema will be turned into a Primark store with the fashion retailer expected to be open by the end of the year.
No opening date for the new cinema has been announced but once it is open it will be the third in the town.
