Train services will be on the agenda at a transport pressure group's public meeting next month.

Concerns about travel in the region will be discussed as East Suffolk Travel Association (ESTA) – the independent voluntary association which provides a voice for train and bus users in eastern Suffolk – holds its latest public meeting.

With public meetings held at least three times a year, the next meeting will take place on Saturday, March 4 at 2pm in St Mary's parish church on Steeple End in Halesworth.

An ESTA spokesman said: "Our last public meeting focused on bus services so we will focus on train services this time.

"The main guest speaker will be Alan Neville, stakeholder, customer and community engagement manager for Greater Anglia.

"Suffolk County Council's councillor for Halesworth, Annette Dunning, will also be speaking.

"Although the main topic will be train services, there will be an updated discussion on bus services."

ESTA covers Ipswich, Woodbridge, Saxmundham, Leiston, Aldeburgh, Halesworth, Southwold, Beccles, Bungay, Lowestoft and their surrounding villages.

Its aims are:

Attractive public transport in East Suffolk, including an hourly train service throughout the East Suffolk Line and the reintroduction of some through services to and from London.

Effective bus services to all towns and large villages with buses integrated with trains wherever appropriate.

User-friendly rail stations and bus stops with adequate car parking at stations.

Proper consultation with users when changes are proposed to train and bus services.

It has successfully campaigned for an additional footbridge and a lift at Ipswich station, for Lowestoft station to be retained on its convenient central site and for a passing loop at Beccles, which was installed in 2012, enabling an hourly train service all the way from Ipswich to Lowestoft.
