Progress has been made on plans for American burger chain Five Guys to open its second UK drive-through on the A11 near Mildenhall.
First submitted to West Suffolk Council in October, an application for installing equipment, replacing doors and windows and erecting Five Guys-branded signs was approved on Friday, January 6.
Advertisement consent proposals are currently pending determination to the former Pancake and Waffle Shack building on the Fiveways roundabout at Barton Mills.
The latest step towards opening the restaurant has come in the form of an application which proposes a wrap-around drive-through function to the rear of the building.
The new lanes will incorporate the existing car parking area and general landscaped area to create a two-lane, one-way system.
Proposals also include an extension to the existing building with the addition of a collection window.
Five Guys does not have any eateries open in Suffolk, with the closest branches being in Norwich and Colchester.
The chain is best known for its burgers, hot dogs, milkshakes and chips and there are currently more than 1,700 Five Guys locations worldwide.
