A Thurston pub owner is expanding his horizons to open The Little Fox Deli, a new takeaway sandwich shop, opposite his existing business.

Andy Bendall, 42, was born and raised in Suffolk and has also owned the Thurston Fox & Hounds across the street from the new shop for four years.

"I've lived in the village all my life," he said.

"I saw that the unit opposite the pub was for sale and thought I could extend its potential."

Since opening last week, Mr Bendall says one of the most popular things have been their homemade sausage rolls, made with sausage meat from a local butcher.

He has also installed a coffee machine and hopes that the deli customers will make full use of the pub garden during the summer months.

Mr Bendall added: "I've seen our community grow and want to give local people something they can access from the village rather than having to go into town."

Manager Lavinia has been kept on from the previous business, Oh Crumbs Sandwich Bar, and will continue to serve customers under the new management.
