The new manager of a Sudbury pub has said she is "really excited" to see people at the bar again after it was left closed for months.
The Lady Elizabeth in Market Hill shut its doors in October but will reopen at 7pm tonight with new manager Bexx Hunt pulling the pints.
Ms Hunt has had years of experience behind the bar and knows the town well as she used to manage the North Street Tavern.
The new manager said: "We are really, really excited. It's been a lot of hard work to get the pub back to where it should be, but this is the bit we are good at so we are just really excited to get the doors open.
"I used to be manager of another pub in Sudbury before Covid hit and I have been in the town for seven years and I have worked in the industry since I was 18.
"We just knew it was a great opportunity for us to reopen the pub.
"It's in the perfect spot on the high street."
The Lady Elizabeth was formerly called The Black Boy but the name was changed after owner Greene King decided to scrap names with racist connotations.
Ms Hunt said she is keen to make good use of the rooms available in the hotel.
"The rooms are available to book and I am going to be looking to work with local businesses like the theatre and potentially offer package deals in the near future," she said.
"Tonight we have got a duo called Words of Music who will be a part of our opening act this evening."
Ms Hunt said that although some landlords are finding the current economic climate difficult she is confident that her team will make the pub a success.
She said: "We obviously know that businesses are up against it and that people do not have as much expendable cash as what they used to, but I think with what we have to offer and the customer service we provide will give people a reason to come and try us out and hopefully pick us going forward.
"People are always looking for places to stay for special occasions and Sudbury has quite a lot of visitors with people coming through the town for business and pleasure so we are really excited that with the hotel we can offer a place to stay as well."
