A man has suffered serious injuries after a Mercedes van collided with a pedestrian in Bury St Edmunds.

Emergency services were called just before 7pm on Thursday, January 26, to Looms Lane, near the junction with Northgate Street.

According to Suffolk police, a white Mercedes Sprinter van was involved in a collision with a man in his 50s.

The pedestrian was taken to West Suffolk Hospital for treatment, with his injuries described as potentially life changing.

The road was initially closed while emergency services responded to the incident.

Police would like to hear from any witnesses to the collision and are also appealing for anyone with a dash cam fitted in their vehicle who was driving in the area at the time to review the footage.
