A former Saxmundham man who raped a schoolgirl and sexually assaulted a schoolboy has been jailed for 12 years and eight months.

Sentencing 28-year-old Christopher Church, Judge Emma Peters described what he did as “wicked”.

She said he had shown the schoolboy porn and had “robbed him of his innocence” by sexually assaulting him and had raped the schoolgirl on at least three occasions when he was around 19 and she was 11.

Church, formerly of Mill Rise, Saxmundham, pleaded guilty to two offences of raping a girl under 13, two offences of sexually assaulting a boy under 13 and four offences of inciting a boy under 13 to engage in sexual activity.

Church, now of Prince Street, Wisbech, is alleged to have carried out the offences in Suffolk between 2008 and 2017.

In addition to being jailed  for 12 years and six months he was given a one year extended license period.

He was also made the subject of a lifelong sexual harm prevention order and ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for the same period.

He was also banned from contacting the female victim until further order.

Adam Norris for Church, who has no previous convictions, said his client accepted he had done wrong and was remorseful.

He had now turned over a new leaf and was trying to get qualifications while he was in prison.
