An open viewing is set to be held tomorrow for Suffolk’s most southerly pub after the property’s agents revealed there had been "a lot of interest" in buying the former hotel.

Potential buyers will be able to have a look around the Dolphin Hotel, in Beach Station Road, Felixstowe, which has been on the market with an asking price of around £500,000.

Gareth Hatton, from agents Everard Cole, revealed there had been an offer for the premises, close to the town’s seafront, but that was ‘no longer proceeding’ and therefore the property was up for sale again.

He added: “There has been a lot of interest and instead of being able to offer one off viewings, we will be having an open viewing.”

He invited interested parties to attend the open viewing and register their details, adding that he was "hopeful" a suitable offer would be made.

“We are keeping our fingers crossed and we are fairly confident that we will get a deal agreed on that.”

The Dolphin Hotel has extensive bar areas, serves food and has 13 rooms to let upstairs.

Currently closed, the pub and hotel in Beach Station Road, Felixstowe, has been the site of an inn for more than 140 years.

It began life in late Victorian times as the Station Hotel, opening opposite Felixstowe Beach Station - now demolished - which in its heyday was the arrival and departure point for thousands of families every summer enjoying a day at the seaside.

It was rebuilt in the 1950s and retained its name until the late 60s, after the closure of the station, when it became the Dolphin.

The Admiral Taverns pub stands on half an acre and is likely to excite interest from prospective purchasers as a housing development opportunity as much as remaining as a hotel or for other hospitality uses.

Everard Cole is inviting offers in excess of £495,000.

The open viewing will be held at the Dolphin Hotel between 11am and noon tomorrow (Tuesday, January 17).
