Long Melford's library has been forced to shut down after Suffolk Libraries was told the building would be closing with immediate effect.
Over the weekend, Suffolk Libraries was advised by the Royal British Legion that they would be closing their building in Cordell Road straight away - with no reason given for the closure.
A Suffolk Libraries spokesman said: "As the library is based in the building, this sadly means we will be unable to open it again until further notice and its regular activities will be suspended.
"We are very sorry for any inconvenience to customers and will keep people informed when there is more news."
Long Melford Library first moved into this new space on April 23, 2022, after closing its previous site at the United Reformed Church (URC) in Hall Street.
If the issue with the building is not resolved, Suffolk Libraries has said it will work with the county council to provide an alternative site in Long Melford as quickly as possible.
Currently, the closest libraries are in Sudbury, Lavenham and Glemsford and the monthly mobile library also visits nearby villages such as Acton, Great Waldingfield and Stanstead.
