Along Suffolk's coast is a selection of great beaches, many of which have won awards in recent years.

Here are five beaches that have been recognised or picked up an award in recent years.

Southwold

Southwold is a known as a quintessentially British seaside town, with its beach also picking up a national award.

The resort was included in the prestigious Blue Flag awards last year, which only recognises beaches with excellent water quality and environmental education programmes.

Aldeburgh

Aldeburgh's beach has been named as the 10th most 'Instagrammable' beach in the UK according to a study by The Thinking Traveller.

The travel website counted hashtags relating to beaches across the UK.

Felixstowe

Felixstowe's South beach is the other destination in Suffolk to be recognised in the Blue Flag awards in 2022.

Southwold Pier

This particular section of Southwold's lengthy beach was another to be named one of the UK's most Instagrammable by The Thinking Traveller.

Southwold Pier was the eighth most popular, according to the travel blog.

Dunwich

Last January, The Times recommended Dunwich beach as one of the best in the country to take a winter walk.

Dunwich was a huge settlement in the Anglo-Saxon period, but most of the area has been lost due to coastal erosion.
