A 16-year-old died after being stabbed three times, including in the heart, a court heard.
Harley Barfield died in hospital on Wednesday, two days after the incident in Haverhill on Monday afternoon.
Another 16-year-old appeared in court on Thursday charged with murder.
The teenager appeared at Ipswich Magistrates' Court before a further appearance at Ipswich Crown Court.
He has been remanded in custody.
The teenager, who legally cannot be named because of his age, is accused of stabbing Harley on Monday afternoon.
The court heard that there were three stab wounds – to the side of the abdomen, to the neck, and to the heart.
Emergency services were called to a car park near Strasbourg Square at around 3.05pm.
Harley was initially taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital for treatment, before being transferred to the Royal Papworth Hospital, where he passed away on Wednesday morning.
Suffolk Police said his family passed on their thanks to everyone who has sent them messages of support at this time.
