A teenage boy has been charged with murder following the death of a 16-year-old who was stabbed in Haverhill.
Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were called to a car park next to Strasbourg Square at about 3.05pm on Monday, January 9.
An altercation is reported to have taken place between two teenage boys during which one of them was stabbed.
According to Suffolk police, the suspect fled the scene and was believed to have run off in the direction of Millfields Way.
The teenager who was stabbed has been named by police as Harley Barfield from Haverhill.
He was initially taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital for treatment before being transferred to the Royal Papworth Hospital where he passed away earlier today, January 11.
A 16-year-old boy from the Haverhill area was arrested shortly after the incident and taken to Bury St Edmunds police station for questioning.
He has now been charged with murder and remanded in custody to appear before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, January 12.
He cannot be named for legal reasons due to his age.
